Wifi for rentals and venues

Wifi QR code for your guests

Zero passwords to type: they scan the plaque and the phone connects on its own. Generate the code, choose the two colors and download the 3MF ready to print.

This tool needs JavaScript enabled to generate the code and the 3D model. The rest of the page works normally.

1 · What should the code open

Your venue's menu, your reviews page or the guide for your guests… If you don't type https:// we add it for you.

2 · Dot style
3 · The two colors

These are the colors of the printed object: one for the base and one for the raised code and text.

4 · Code center (optional)

On the 3D object the logo is raised, in a single piece, in the code color.

5 · The 3D object
Format

Short and clear: your business name or a call to action. You can include an emoji: it is raised too. Up to 22 characters.

70 mm

The bigger, the easier to scan. Make sure it fits on your print bed.

The 3MF file is the recommended format: it contains both colors and both parts. The STL is for older printers and software: two files without color.

100% private. The code, the model and the file are generated inside your browser. Your link, your logo and your wifi password are never uploaded to any server.

How it works

In 3 steps, no 3D design skills needed

1

Enter your network details

The network name exactly as it appears on the phone, and the password. If your router has a guest network, use that: it's the safest. None of this leaves your browser.

2

Design the plaque

Choose the two colors, add the text you want above —“WIFI”, the name of your place— and choose the size. The default 90 mm reads from the sofa.

3

Print it and hang it

The plaque has two holes at the top to hang it or screw it on. Next to the TV or at the entrance is where it works best.

Ideas

Where it works best

Anywhere people ask you for the password more than once a day.

Holiday rentals and Airbnb

The 11 pm message asking about the wifi disappears. One plaque in the living room and another in the main bedroom, and you never explain it again. It also cuts down bad reviews for “I couldn't connect”.

Hotels and country houses

One in every room, all identical, printed in an afternoon. Much cheaper than ordering them from a print shop, and you can redo them the day you change the password.

Bars and cafés

On the bar or on every table. Customers connect without interrupting the staff, which is exactly what you want at rush hour.

Offices and coworking spaces

The guest network for visitors, sales reps and clients, without anyone having to read a twenty-character password out loud to the whole room.

Hair salons and waiting rooms

Where people spend time on their phones, easy wifi changes how they see the place.

Campsites and hostels

It handles dust and humidity far better than a laminated sheet at reception.

How a wifi QR code works

It's not magic or an app: it's a standard that every phone understands. The code stores text in a specific format —the network name, the security type and the password— and when the camera recognizes it, the system offers to connect directly. Android has done it for years and iPhone since iOS 11, so in practice it works with any phone that walks through your door today.

Important: the code contains the password. It isn't encrypted or hidden, only encoded. Anyone who photographs the plaque can extract it. So think about where you hang it and which network you share.

Use the guest network

Almost every router lets you create a guest network with its own password, separate from the main one. It's the sensible recommendation: whoever connects gets internet but can't see the other devices in the house —not the computer, the printer or the cameras. If you ever want to change the password, you change only that one and don't have to reconfigure your own devices.

If your router doesn't have that option, at least avoid hanging the plaque somewhere visible from the street or a window.

Where to hang it

  • Next to the living-room TV — it's the first thing people look at when they arrive and where they usually sit down with their phones.
  • At the entrance, next to the keys or the instructions panel.
  • In the main bedroom, if the place is large: guests appreciate not having to get up to find it.
  • Avoid the kitchen — grease builds up on the raised parts and over time blurs the contrast.

Which size and colors

The default 90 mm scans comfortably from a meter away. If the plaque will hang high or in a corridor, go up to 120 mm. A long password increases the number of squares, so the tool warns you if they get too thin: in that case, make the plaque bigger or shorten the guest network password.

For contrast, the usual: a light base and a dark code. Black and white is boring but foolproof; off-white with navy blue looks much better and reads just as well.

FAQ

What people ask before printing

Does it work on iPhone and Android?
On both. Android has supported it for many versions and iPhone since iOS 11 (2017). Just open the camera and point it: a prompt appears to join the network. In practice it works with any phone in use today.
Is it safe to put the password in a QR code?
The code stores the password encoded, not encrypted: anyone who photographs the plaque can extract it. That's why we recommend using your router's guest network, which gives internet access but isolates visitors from your other devices, and not hanging the plaque where it can be seen from the street.
Is my password sent to any server?
No. The code is generated inside your browser with JavaScript running on your own device. Neither the network name nor the password ever leave your device, and they disappear when you close the tab.
What do I choose under “Security”?
WPA in practically every case: it covers WPA, WPA2 and WPA3, which is what any modern router uses. WEP only if your network is very old, and “no password” if your wifi is open.
What if I change the wifi password?
You'll need to print the plaque again, because the details are printed into the plastic. It's a print of just over an hour and a few cents of filament. If you change the password often, create a guest network with a stable password and share that one.
Can I add my rental's logo?
Yes, upload it and it will appear in the center of the code, raised. You can also write the name of your place in the text above, printed in the same color as the code.
