QR code for 3D printing

Paste your link, design it your way and download it as a two-color 3MF file, ready for your printer. Table stand, keychain or wall plaque — and also as PNG or SVG.

✓ Colors inside the file 🖨️ Bambu · Prusa · Orca · Cura 🔒 Nothing leaves your device

This tool needs JavaScript enabled to generate the code and the 3D model. The rest of the page works normally.

1 · What should the code open

Digital menu, your Google reviews page, Instagram, your website… If you don't type https:// we add it for you.

2 · Dot style
3 · The two colors

These are the colors of the printed object: one for the base and one for the raised code and text.

4 · Code center (optional)

On the 3D object the logo is raised, in a single piece, in the code color.

5 · The 3D object
Format

Short and clear: your business name or a call to action. You can include an emoji: it is raised too. Up to 22 characters.

70 mm

The bigger, the easier to scan. Make sure it fits on your print bed.

The 3MF file is the recommended format: it contains both colors and both parts. The STL is for older printers and software: two files without color.

100% private. The code, the model and the file are generated inside your browser. Your link, your logo and your wifi password are never uploaded to any server.

How it works

From a link to a printed object, in 3 steps

No design software, no accounts and no 3D modeling skills needed.

1

Paste your link

Your restaurant menu, your Google reviews page, your Instagram, your website… or your wifi details so your customers connect on their own. The code is generated instantly as you type.

2

Design it and pick the two colors

Dot shape, your logo or an emoji in the center, the code color and the base color. Choose a table stand, a keychain or a plaque, and add a short text.

3

Download the 3MF and print

Open it in your printer's slicer: the base and the code come as separate parts with their colors. Just hit print. You can also download it as PNG or SVG to use on paper.

Ideas

What a 3D printed QR code is used for

A paper QR gets wet, peels off and looks cheap. A printed piece lasts for years and looks professional on a table.

Digital menus in restaurants

A stand on every table with the link to the menu. Wipe it with a cloth, it doesn't bend and it survives a busy service. Update the menu online without reprinting anything.

“Leave us a Google review”

The table stand next to the till or on the bar, pointing to your Google business profile. The simplest way to get more reviews: customers scan and rate before they leave.

Keychains for events and trade fairs

Keychains with your website, your catalog or the speaker's LinkedIn profile. Hand them out at a booth: they fit in a pocket and stay with people far longer than a business card.

Wifi for holiday rentals

A plaque on the living-room wall with the wifi QR. Guests scan and connect without typing the password, and you avoid the 11 pm message.

Bookings for salons and clinics

A plaque at reception with the link to your booking system. Fewer calls, fewer empty slots, and customers book their next visit before walking out the door.

Product labels and packaging

A small plaque inside the box with the assembly video, the manual or the warranty registration. It looks premium and saves a lot of phone support.

Weddings and celebrations

A keychain or plaque linking to the shared photo gallery, the gift list or the party playlist. A keepsake guests take home.

Workshops, sites and maintenance

Plaques screwed onto machines or electrical panels with the manual, the service history or the incident form. They handle dust and oil far better than a sticker.

What exactly is a 3D printed QR code

A 3D printed QR code is not a picture stuck on a part: it is the code itself, raised, as part of the object. The dark squares stand one or two millimeters above a light base, and that height difference lets you print each part with a different color of filament. The result is a solid piece, printed in one go, that any phone camera reads just like a paper code.

Contrast is the key. A QR reader doesn't see depth: it sees light and dark. That's why the object needs two truly different filament colors, and why this generator warns you live if your combination won't work. With a light base and a dark code, success is practically guaranteed.

Why a 3MF file and not an STL

STL has been around for almost forty years and stores only one thing: shape. No colors, no materials, no separate parts. If you download a QR as STL, you get two loose files that you have to import, align and color by hand in your slicer, with the risk of them ending up misaligned.

The 3MF is the modern format that solved this. The same file carries both parts already placed in their exact position, each with its color assigned. Open it in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer or Cura and you see the finished object right away, with the base in one color and the code in the other. Nothing to adjust.

The three object formats and when to use each

  • Table stand: a wedge tilted about 38°, designed so the code faces up towards a seated customer. It's the format for restaurant menus and the classic “leave us a review”. It prints without supports thanks to the tilt.
  • Keychain: a thin plate of about 3 mm with a hole for the ring. The fastest to print, and ideal to hand out at fairs, events, weddings or as a small gift with an order.
  • Wall plaque: flat, with two holes at the top to hang it or screw it on. Perfect for the wifi in a holiday rental, for receptions and for labeling machines or spaces.

Tips to get it right the first time

  • Short links. The longer the link, the more squares the code has and the smaller they get. A short link means a code that reads from further away.
  • At least 1.5 mm per module. Below that, the nozzle rounds the corners and the code starts to fail. The tool shows you the real size while you design.
  • Raised height of 1 to 2 mm. 1.2 mm is plenty: enough for the color change without wasting filament.
  • Test before printing a batch. Scan the code with your own phone from the preview on this page before printing twenty pieces.
  • A single nozzle works too. If your printer has no filament changer, add a pause at the height where the raised part begins and swap the color by hand. It looks just as good.

FAQ

What people ask before printing

What is a 3MF file and why is it better than an STL?
3MF is the standard format of modern 3D printers. Unlike STL, it stores colors and separate parts inside the file itself: when you open it in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Orca or Cura, the base comes in one color and the raised code in the other, already assigned. With an STL you would get two loose, colorless files and have to place them by hand.
Does a 3D printed QR code really scan?
Yes, as long as there is real contrast between the two colors and the squares are big enough. That's why the tool warns you live: if the contrast is low or each module is smaller than 1.5 mm, you'll see a warning. With a light base, a dark code and an object of 60 mm or more, any phone reads it without trouble.
Do I need to know 3D design or use Tinkercad?
No. Paste your link, choose the type of object and download the ready-made file. Nothing to model, export or combine. It opens directly in your printer's slicer, ready to print.
Which filament colors work best?
The classic and most reliable: a white, off-white or light base and a black or very dark blue code. Avoid combinations like red on black or grey on grey. If you invert the colors (light code on a dark base) most modern phones still read it, but some older readers fail.
How long does it take to print?
It depends on the size and your printer, but as a guide: a 40 mm keychain usually takes 20-35 minutes, a 100 mm plaque a little over an hour and a 70 mm table stand between 1 and 2 hours. Since they are flat parts without overhangs, they need no supports.
Can I change the link after printing?
No: the link is printed into the plastic. If you expect it to change (a digital menu, a promotion), point the QR to an intermediate link you control (your own short link, a page of yours that redirects) so you can change the destination without reprinting.
Is my data uploaded to any server?
No. The whole process happens inside your browser: the code, the 3D model and the final file are generated on your own device. Neither the link, nor your logo, nor the wifi password ever leave your device.
Is it free and can I use it for my business?
Yes, it's free with no sign-up, and the codes and objects you generate are yours: you can use them commercially, print them and sell them. No watermark and no download limit.
Which printers support the file?
Any current FDM 3D printer. Two-color 3MF files are supported by Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, Cura and Simplify3D. With a single nozzle, you can print the object with a filament change halfway up, right where the raised part begins: it comes out perfect.
