WhatsApp for business

WhatsApp QR code to 3D print

Customers scan and a chat with you opens, with the message already written. Generate the code, pick the colours and download a print-ready 3MF: table stand, keychain or plate.

💬 Opens the chat instantly ✍️ Pre-written message 🔒 Your number never leaves your browser

This tool needs JavaScript enabled to generate the code and the 3D model. The rest of the page works as usual.

1 · What should the code open

Your venue's menu, your reviews page or the guide for your guests… If you don't type https:// we add it for you.

2 · Dot style
3 · The two colors

These are the colors of the printed object: one for the base and one for the raised code and text.

4 · Code center (optional)

On the 3D object the logo is raised, in a single piece, in the code color.

5 · The 3D object
Format

Short and clear: your business name or a call to action. You can include an emoji: it is raised too. Up to 22 characters.

70 mm

The bigger, the easier to scan. Make sure it fits on your print bed.

The 3MF file is the recommended format: it contains both colors and both parts. The STL is for older printers and software: two files without color.

100% private. The code, the model and the file are generated inside your browser. Your link, your logo and your wifi password are never uploaded to any server.

How it works

3 steps, no 3D design skills needed

1

Enter your number

Your business WhatsApp number with its country code and, if you like, the opening message: “Hi, I’d like to book a table for…”. None of it leaves your browser.

2

Pick the object

A table stand for the counter, a keychain to hand out or a plate for the wall. Add your logo or an emoji in the middle and raised text under the code.

3

Print and test it

Download the two-colour 3MF and print it. First tap “Check readability” to see whether it will scan with your nozzle, and scan it with your phone before putting it out.

Ideas

Where it works best

Anywhere customers want to ask you something without calling or queuing.

Takeaways and restaurants

Orders and bookings over WhatsApp without customers saving your number. One stand on the counter, another by the door.

Hair and beauty salons

To book the next appointment on the way out, with “I’d like an appointment for…” already typed. Fewer calls while you work.

Repair shops and trades

On the keychain you hand back with the car or on the van: customers send photos of the fault in a second.

Estate agents

On the window sign or the door plate: buyers open a chat with the agent with the property reference already filled in.

Fairs and markets

Keychains to give away: whoever takes one can message you days later without hunting for your card.

Holiday lets

A plate by the door so guests can reach the host without digging through the booking.

How a WhatsApp QR code works

The code stores a link such as wa.me/447700900123, WhatsApp’s official click-to-chat system. Scanning it opens WhatsApp with your conversation ready, without the customer saving you as a contact. If you add a message, it appears in the text box and they just tap send; they can edit it first, so nobody sends something they didn’t mean to.

It works the same with regular WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business, though the latter is better for a business: you can set opening hours, quick replies and an automatic greeting for people coming from the QR.

What message to use

  • Short and specific. “Hi, I’d like to book a table”, “I’d like an appointment”, “I’m interested in the flat on High Street”. The longer it is, the more modules the code has and the bigger you need to print it.
  • Tell you where it came from. With several stands (counter, terrace, window) change one word on each and you’ll know which works best.
  • No personal data. Anyone who scans sees the message: don’t write anything you wouldn’t put on a sign.

Size and readability

With a short message, the 75 mm stand scans easily from the table. With a long one, the tool warns you that the modules are getting thin: make it bigger or shorten the text. The “Check readability” button simulates how your printer’s nozzle renders each module and tells you whether the code will scan once printed.

Want it to work by tapping the phone too? Tick “Pocket for an NFC sticker” on the stand or the plate: stick a 25 mm NFC tag in and write the same link to it.

FAQ

What people ask before printing

Do I need WhatsApp Business?
No. The wa.me link works with any WhatsApp account. Business is recommended for a shop because it adds opening hours, quick replies and an automatic greeting, but the code is the same.
Does it work if the customer hasn’t saved my number?
Yes, that’s the point: the chat opens straight away with your number, no need to add a contact.
Can I change the message after printing?
The message is stored in the code, so changing it means printing a new piece. Customers can still edit the text before sending.
What if I change my number?
You’ll need to print the code again. It’s a short print that uses a few cents of filament.
Is my number stored on any server?
No. The code is generated in your browser; neither the number nor the message leaves your device.
Can I add NFC so it works by tapping the phone?
Yes. On the table stand and the plate tick “Pocket for an NFC sticker”: it leaves a 26.5 mm pocket for a 25 mm sticker that you write the same wa.me link to with a free app such as NFC Tools.
